The Duck Blind
Whistling rockets ........
There is always a dilemma in our home come September and October, no...not what to watch on TV, but rather where to be. Whether sitting in a deer blind or taking cover in a nearby water hole waiting for a moose; it seems 'duck hunting time' is always stretched thin. We always said, we could use another month to really get into the northern birds. But as is the case - with anything we do outdoors, one thing moves into another and there's never enough time.
This year we crawled into one of our spots and made it count. We do enjoy shooting over water for a few reasons particularly the mixed bag that you'll get. Divers are great fun and still excellent in the kitchen, despite the hard knock they get from some corners of the duck world. We do run into a pile of Teal's early in the season and we love it. They are fast and you got to be ready, if you're not watching you'll only hear them go by like 'whistling rockets'.
As we sit here and talk, go through photos and tell stories about 'the time', our minds begin to race thinking of another duck season down the road. But with snow on the ground right now, we'll have to wait a little longer.
